The Sly Fox bookstore opened in 1998 on the West Side of the downtown Virden Square in Virden, Illinois, 20 miles south of Springfield on Illinois Route 4. As one of the areas only independent bookstores, it sits along the Blue Carpet Corridor section of Historic Route 66.

The Sly Fox is an independent bookstore that is also a member of the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association and the Great Lakes Independent Booksellers Association. We offer special collections of kids books and Illinois books. We house a small section of Christian books, Bibles, and communion supplies. We also carry the ever-famous Lovepop cards.
